FIS Secretary General for 20 years, the British Sarah Lewis, is fired with immediate effect after Friday’s FIS board meeting.
“At its meeting today, the FIS Council, including the members of the Marc Hodler Foundation, based on a complete loss of confidence, has decided by a great majority vote that Sarah Lewis will no longer serve as the Secretary General of FIS, effective 9th October 2020.”

Finnish TV-channel Yle has spoken to the Finnish member of the FIS Board, Martti Uusitalo, and asked for a comment on the decision.
“This is an internal issue in FIS and an internal decision from the board. Unfortunately, I can not comment on this,” says Uusitalo to Yle Sport.

Yle has also spoken with Roman Kumpost from the Czech Republic, who is vice president of FIS.
“I’m sorry, but I can not talk about this. Only the president can comment on this,” says Kumpost.

FIS president since 1998 is Swiss Gianfranco Kasper. He was scheduled to resign this summer, but due to the corona pandemic, a new president will not be elected until next spring.

Yle also reached Lewis by phone but it was a short call.
“Thanks so much. Have a good day,” was all Lewis had to say.

According to information from Swedish newspaper Expressen, Sarah Lewis has had a conflict with Gianfranco Kasper for a long time. It has also been speculated that Sarah Lewis was looking to become chairman of Fis and thereby replace Kasper.
